چکیده

Introduction Proton (1H) MR Spectroscopy (MRS) of the breast cancer has been reported to be useful for the diagnosis and the assessment of treatment response to chemotherapy (1). In most reports, MRS was obtained after dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI, since voxel of interest (VOI) for MRS could be located easily referring to contrast-enhanced MRI. However there are some reports that MRS was affected by the Gadolinium contrast agents (2, 3). The purpose of this study was to assess whether VOIs of MRS were located properly with non-contrast MRI and to compare the variability between preand post-contrast spectroscopic measurements at 3T-MRI.

Comparison between MRS and DWI in MRI of breast cancer

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and is the second leading cause of cancer death (after lung cancer) in people throughout the world. Today, MRI is being used because of the limitations of x-ray mammography to detect breast cancer. Non-contrast sequences were associated to CE sequences in a breast MRI protocol for the sake of appraising morphologic ...

Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy of the Breast at 3T: Pre- and Post-Contrast Evaluation for Breast Lesion Characterization

PURPOSE To determine whether in vivo proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy at 3T can provide accurate breast lesion characterization, and to determine the effect of gadolinium on the resonance of tCho. METHODS Twenty-four positive-mammogram patients were examined on a 3T MR scanner. 1H-MRS was performed before and after gadolinium administration. tCho peak was qualitatively evaluated before ...

Improved Diagnostic Accuracy in Characterization of Adnexal Masses by Detection of Choline Peak Using 1H MR Spectroscopy in Comparison to Internal Reference at 3 Tesla.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to assess the role of the presence of a choline peak in 3 Tesla 1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) for differentiating benign from malignant adnexal masses. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 46 adnexal masses (23 malignant and 23 benign) underwent 1H MRS study prior to surgery to assess the presence of choline peak. RESULTS A choline peak was detect...

Gadolinium-Diethylenetriaminepenta-Acetic acid Conjugated with Monoclonal Antibody C595 as New Magnetic Resonance Imaging Contrast Agents for Breast Cancer (MCF-7) Detection

Background: The monoclonal antibody, C595, against breast cancer cell line was conjugated with cyclic anhydride gadolinium-diethylenetriaminepenta-acetic acid (Gd-cDTPAa) to produce Gd-DTPA-C595 and used as specific breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).  Methods: After incubation of breast cancer cell line (MCF-7), with different contrast agents (G...

In vivo quantification of choline compounds in the breast with 1H MR spectroscopy.

This work describes a methodology for quantifying levels of total choline-containing compounds (tCho) in the breast using in vivo (1)H MR spectroscopy (MRS) at high field (4 Tesla). Water is used as an internal reference compound to account for the partial volume of adipose tissue. Peak amplitudes are estimated by fitting one peak at a time over a narrow frequency band to allow measurement of s...
